As Alabama looks as dominant as it has in recent memory coming off of a dismantling of Ole Miss on Saturday, questions have risen about how the Crimson Tide will handle the superlatives that come with the wide margins of victory.

Coach Nick Saban made viral headlines last season with his comment about “rat poison” being something the players should avoid, meaning that too many positive compliments could be detrimental to the team’s long-term championship goal.

“I think the most important thing for our team right now is to maintain the standard of excellence and not allow outside voices and influences to affect our intensity, our focus on preparation and understanding and maintaining our standard in everything that we do everyday,” Saban said at his Monday press conference, with video from Alex Byington.

Always looking for something to work on in a new week, Saban said he had something in mind, even after the 62-7 result in Oxford.

“I still think, looking at the film, there’s a lot of things that we can improve on,” he said.

Alabama will play host to Texas A&M at 2:30 p.m. local time Saturday on CBS.
