Alabama’s defense has been producing more and more turnovers as the season goes on.
The Tide have come up with an interception in every game but one, including 3 interceptions against Mississippi State 2 weeks ago. Nick Saban believes its a product of good pressure from the defensive line.
“I think we’ve done a good job of pressuring the quarterback,” Saban said in his press conference Monday. “I think the pass rush has been good even when we only have 4 guys rushing and I think that has affected the quarterback to some degree.
Another factor in the success of the defense is strong play from the secondary.
“I do think that our guys all have good ball skills and they all play the ball well in the air and I think we play the ball with more confidence,” Saban said. “That’s something that we really like to see in all the defensive backs that we have and hopefully we’ll be able to continue to get turnovers, cause that’s going to be huge for us in terms of being successful in the future is having a successful turnover margin.”
Alabama will hope to continue the strong play from the defense this weekend as the Tide takes on Arkansas. After a big win over Texas A&M last weekend, Alabama’s quest for an SEC West title is looking very attainable.
