Nick Saban has his ideal player at right tackle.

JC Latham, the former No. 1 offensive tackle in the class of 2021, has given Saban what he wants in that position. Latham earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after the Arkansas game.

Latham’s strong performance at right tackle is why Saban wants to keep him there rather than moving him to left tackle, an area where Alabama has struggled.

“He’s really a good right tackle,” Saban said in his press conference Monday. “He’s played really well obviously, being SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, he had a really good game in the last game. He’s big, strong, physical. He’s the prototype right tackle that everybody would look for in terms of having a power guy who is effective in being able to pass block well enough. You always hope that if we move the left tackle to right tackle that will make everything better, but I guess the question you also have to ask yourselves is, would that make us any better at right tackle or do you just try to attack the solution of trying to get the left tackle to play to the standard you need to play without making multiple changes in the offensive line.”

Latham and the rest of Alabama’s offensive line are hoping for a big game against Tennessee this Saturday. The Vols have been dominant on defensive line, so the Tide will have a big challenge cut out for them this week.
