Nick Saban is one of the G.O.A.T.’s in the history of college football. However, Miss Terry isn’t afraid to call it like it is whenever she pleases.

During his weekly radio show, Saban provided details on the stern lecture he received from his wife recently about needing to ratchet up the intensity. The 7-time national championship coach admits he’s mellowed some in his later years.

“I think maybe as I’ve gotten a little bit older, I’m probably not as volatile as I used to be,” Saban said. “I think many people have heard me say before 1 of my prayers in church on Sunday is don’t get angry and control your temper. Don’t let your emotions make you do something that you’ll be sorry for.”

However, Miss Terry helped Saban reach the perspective that there’s a time and a place for his emotions to come out. Especially with a Crimson Tide squad that’s still striving to reach their potential.

“I’ve been a little laid back. At times it’s been hard to bite my tongue, relative to some of the things we’ve done that shoot our foot off. I got a lecture about why don’t you show a little more intensity on the sidelines when the players aren’t doing exactly what they should do?” Saban said. “When we snap the ball, when we didn’t have a snap count on 3rd down, and hit the guy in the leg. We had taken a couple of sacks. I had about enough of it. I thought that was a good time.”

Next up for No. 11 Alabama is a road matchup at Mississippi State on Saturday (3:30 p.m. EST/CBS).
