Nick Saban and Jim McElwain have a long history together, as McElwain won two titles as Alabama’s offensive coordinator under Saban.

Now, though, McElwain is looking for work after he and the Florida Gators parted ways on Sunday afternoon.

During Wednesday night’s press conference, Saban said he’s reached out to McElwain, but didn’t get in touch with him:

Saban added that he’s reached out to their shared agent, Jimmy Sexton, to contact McElwain.

The two former colleagues are still close, and it wouldn’t be totally surprising to see McElwain serve in an analyst’s role for the Crimson Tide for the rest of the season.

Saban likes to add smart minds to his staff, so we’ll have to wait and see if he does indeed discuss business with McElwain when the two eventually talk.
