Nick Saban laments penalties, lackluster defense at halftime of Iron Bowl
Nick Saban and Alabama are not having the Iron Bowl they hoped for.
The Tide lead 17-14 at the half, but there has been plenty of lackluster play that prevented Alabama from going into the break with a more comfortable lead.
At the half, Saban lamented the poor showing in the first half.
“We had two touchdowns called back with penalties, lost the momentum of the game,” Saban told CTSN Radio at halftime. “Not playing very well on defense, not stopping the run, so we need to do a better job of that in the second half. Got to finish some drives on offense. We get the ball back in the second half, so we’ve got to do something with it.”
Alabama will get the ball out of the half and it will be looking for a tone-setting drive early in the third quarter. The Tide are hoping for a late push to get into the College Football Playoff, and they can’t afford an upset in the Iron Bowl.
