Following another championship run, Nick Saban continues to work hard this offseason to resupply his program with an incredible number of rising coaches.

There isn’t a program in the country that can sell itself as one that can elevate a coach’s career quite like the Alabama dynasty so it should come as no surprise that Saban not only has an eye for talent but is able to lure nearly every assistant he wants to join him in Tuscaloosa — even if that means leaving a full-time position to become an analyst.

That’s what’s happened here as Mark Orphey has left his job as Utah State’s secondary coach to join Alabama as a senior defensive analyst. News of Orphey’s hire at Alabama was first reported by Matt Zenitz of AL.com.

Orphey had been Utah State’s secondary coach since 2019 and has led several of his players to all-conference honors during his time with the Aggies.

He is a Houston native and played college football for Texas Southern. During his time at Texas Southern, Orphey earned All-Southwestern Athletic Conference honors during his junior and senior seasons.
