Nick Saban had a message for the Alabama Crimson Tide faithful prior to the team’s Iron Bowl clash with Auburn this weekend.
On “Hey Coach,” Saban appreciated everyone’s support as Alabama goes into its contest against Auburn with a 10-1 record and nationally rank at No. 8.
“It’s been great this year. Y’all have had great patience with this team,” Saban said. “This team’s transformation has been pretty astonishing to this point to create this opportunity. Pay attention to what you have to do to go upward in improvement and to be a dangerous team. … You affect by what you can control, what you do and what you think.”
Saban noted that the Crimson Tide fan base should have the same mindset, especially when entering Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday.
“I know this is a difficult place to play but I also know that when we get there on the bus, there’s a calming effect to that when you’re playing on the road,” Saban said. “It’s going to be important for us in this game.”
Alabama and Auburn will meet in the Iron Bowl for the 88th time on Saturday. The Crimson Tide have won the last 3 meetings against the Tigers.
“This is going to be a really challenging game for us,” Saban said. “We’re excited for any opportunity, and I’m excited for this team getting themselves in a position for an opportunity to do that. We’re looking forward to a great game and all your support and help. We just have to go for it.”
Kickoff between the Crimson Tide and Tigers is set 3:30 p.m. Saturday on CBS.
