Nick Saban has become an integral part of College GameDay in just his 1st season. The coaching legend has seamlessly fit in with the GameDay crew, and fans have enjoyed the coach’s perspective.
For Week 12, the GameDay crew will be in Athens, Georgia, for a top-10 showdown between Tennessee and Georgia. Ahead of that matchup, the crew filmed a new ad that included a special nod to Ben, Kirk Herbstreit’s beloved dog who just passed away.
The ad, titled “Freshman Again,” features Saban painting an updated mural on the GameDay bus. The other GameDay members approach Saban, giving him tips for how to improve the painting.
“Don’t worry, fifth times the charm,” said Herbstreit.
Herbstreit shared the video on social media, thanking Home Depot and Saban for ensuring Ben would “always be a part of the GameDay team.”

The coach continues painting the bus before revealing the final product. Desmond, Rece, Nick, Lee, and Kirk all featured, with Ben running alongside Kirk.
It was a nice tribute to the beloved dog whose recent death saddened sports fans from all over. On GameDay in Week 11, Herbstreit was visibly emotional when the program aired its own tribute for the dog.
The GameDay crew will be in town for one of the weekend’s most-anticipated matchups in Week 12. The Bulldogs and Volunteers will kick off from Sanford Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET.
