Nick Saban has never had players like he has in quarterback Bryce Young and linebacker Will Anderson Jr.

“To have 2 players that make such a significant impact on our team as those 2 guys, I don’t recall ever having a circumstance like that. We’ve had some great impact players, but never one on offense, one on defense of that caliber,” Saban said from the podium at SEC Media Days on Tuesday.

Saban noted that Young and Anderson are also on track to graduate in December.

Saban shared that Young is a perfectionist, but also maintains the mindset to improve and make progress as a player.

Young not only won the Heisman Trophy last season, but also set the Alabama single-season marks for passing yards (4,872) and touchdowns (47), and was selected as one of the Crimson Tide’s permanent team captains for the 2021 campaign.

Anderson won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, and was a unanimous first team All-American, was also selected as one of the Crimson Tide’s permanent team captains for the 2021. Anderson also led the nation in tackles for loss with 34.5, a total that finished second in the Alabama single-season ranks, and he also made 17.5 sacks, which led all Division I defenders and ranked third in Alabama single-season program history. He finished with 102 total tackles.
