Nick Saban joined the Pat McAfee Show Thursday to emphasize his confidence in recently-affirmed QB1 Jalen Milroe.

Saban told McAfee, a former NFL punter and wildly entertaining CFB personality, that the plan heading into Week 3 against Alabama was to give QBs like Tyler Buchner and Ty Simpson a chance to prove themselves, while also evaluating how Milroe took his role. The results seem to have pleased Saban, who reiterated that he has immense confidence in Milroe moving forward.

“I’m pleased with his performance,” Saban said. “He has nothing to prove here, he’s our guy. He’s the guy I have confidence in.”

Here’s more from Saban’s chat with McAfee and Co. Thursday.

The Tide have a big one this week, and one that could alter the course of their season. No. 15 Ole Miss comes to town looking to make a firm statement on their place in the SEC West. Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart has played like one of the top QBs in the SEC across the past few weeks, but he’s yet to prove it against a defense like Alabama’s so far this season.

Let’s see if Milroe is up for the challenge.
