Nick Saban announced that he would be retiring from coaching on Wednesday, and the campus at the University of Alabama responded in a big way.

Notoriously, Saban is a fan of the Little Debbie brand, specifically oatmeal cream pies. He keeps a jar of the round treats on his office desk at all times and is known to have two with a cup of coffee every morning.

Saban is also a Coke connoisseur, as he can frequently be seen sipping an ice cold one at a press conference, during an interview or even just strolling around the practice field. He also notably exclaimed that a Coke bottle is a not a crystal ball when asked about Jalen Milroe during a presser earlier this season.

Thus, the community in Tuscaloosa took to the Walk of Champions outside of Bryant-Denny Stadium to pay homage to the legendary coach’s statue, which was first unveiled in 2011. The Alabama faithful left an assortment of Coke and Little Debbie products by the feet of Saban’s statue on what is sure to be a reflective, sad day for the Crimson Tide fan base.

Saban won 6 national titles at Alabama, so he’ll certainly be remembered for a long time in Tuscaloosa. It’ll take a while for anyone to come close to matching Saban’s career résumé.
