Nick Saban reveals biggest 2nd half adjustment in Tennessee victory
It wasn’t pretty for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the first half, as Tennessee came ready to play on Saturday. The Volunteers took a 20-7 lead to the half, and was in complete control of the game. However, things changed after the half as the Crimson Tide came out on fire in the second half, scoring 27 unanswered points in the second half en route to the 34-20 win.
Anytime there is a comeback victory like that, there were obviously some changes made at the half. After the game, coach Nick Saban talked about the biggest change the Crimson Tide made in the second half.
“In the beginning of the game, we were trying to play odd, cause we were really trying to stop the run,” Saban said. “They hit the big pass and we were in odd. We didn’t play the coverage exactly right on the first touchdown. As the game went on, we started to play a little more even. Started playing things we have played in the past. The players did a really good, and it helped us rush the pass better.”
The strong defensive performance in the second half was big, because in two weeks, the Crimson Tide have another juggernaut offense coming to Tuscaloosa. The LSU Tigers will be coming to town in 2 weeks, after winning the rivalry game, 32-31, in overtime last year.
