Emmnauel Henderson is already proving he’ll do whatever it takes to see the field.

The true freshman, who was ranked the No. 2 running back in 2022 recruiting class, has been working out at wide receiver during camp and even got a small compliment from head coach Nick Saban during his press conference.

“I feel good about the 5 running backs that we have,” Saban said. “Emmanuel Henderson has been working with the receivers some and he’s done a nice job at making progress there.”

Henderson, listed at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, is from Hartford, Alabama and went to high school at Geneva County. He was a composite 4-star prospect and ranked No. 59 nationally in the 2022 class.

It’s not unusual for young, talented players to work out at different positions early in their career, especially if they are at a position with several upperclassmen ahead of them on the depth chart. With a running back room as deep as Alabama’s it can be difficult to get the desired amount of reps without a moving around a little. The likelihood of Henderson eventually challenging for a feature back role in Alabama’s offense is still very high.
