Nick Saban speaks to how Alabama's scouting preparations paid off
Things didn’t start off well this year for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but the team responded by winning the SEC Championship by knocking off Georgia, 27-24.
The Bulldogs entered this game on a 29-game winning streak, and had won the last 2 national championships. To beat Georgia was going to take a special performance, and it was going to take a lot of scouting and preparation.
After the big win, Alabama coach Nick Saban spoke to the role that preparation played in getting this win, especially on that last drive.
Saban was asked about Georgia Tech using a similar play last week that Alabama exploited with Jalen Milroe late in the game to run the clock out in the SEC title game.
“We watch almost every game in a team’s in the season,” Saban said. “That is something that our offensive staff did a very good job of was keeping some of those plays in the bag when we needed to take the air out of it and not give them the ball back.”
It wasn’t an easy day for the offense, as the Crimson Tide was able to only rush for 114 yards on 14 carries. Milroe did the job, but he threw for only 192 yards.
For Alabama, that was a big win, and now all the Crimson Tide can do is sit back and wait to see what the College Football Playoff committee is going to do.
