Nick Saban made a plea to Alabama fans on his radio show, “Hey Coach,” Thursday to fill Bryant-Denny Stadium for the Crimson Tide’s home opener against Fresno State.

Saban apparently said he hates when “people on TV” say it doesn’t matter what Alabama does until it plays LSU or Auburn. He was quoted as saying he “sure as hell hope[s] our fans aren’t that way.”

Saban said he wants fans to show “spirit and support” and make Bryant-Denny Stadium a “tough place to play” this Saturday and every Saturday, as opposed to them just showing up for the big games.

A lack of fan support when the Tide played lower-tier opponents didn’t appear to be an issue last season, as Alabama allegedly averaged 101, 821 fans per game against the likes of Western Kentucky, Kent State and Chattanooga.
