One foot out the door? Jalen Hurts reportedly listed in NCAA transfer portal
Jalen Hurts appears to have taken the first step in potentially transferring from Alabama.
Multiple outlets are reporting that Hurts has entered his name into the transfer portal. It’s a step that doesn’t bind Hurts to any decision but allows other coaching staffs to contact him and recruit him.
Hurts finishing his college football career elsewhere has been expected since Tua Tagovailoa led Alabama’s comeback against Georgia in last year’s national championship game. Fans, coaches and media members praised Hurts for opting not to redshirt in 2018. He instead played throughout the season as Tagovailoa’s backup.
Having recently graduated, Hurts would be immediately eligible to play in 2019 if he does decide to transfer from Alabama. It was recently revealed that he applied to graduate school at Alabama. He has one season of eligibility remaining.
From a source: Jalen Hurts’ name is now in the transfer portal.

I wish him the best going forward. Hurts has shown nothing but outstanding character. Good luck to him.
Wow! Twice now I’ve seen you on higher ground. You must have a compass. Ha!
I’m respectful to those that deserve it….You’re still the same dumba$$ as usual though…
Arkansas?
we’ll take him! oh and any other bama 2nd stringers too.
Heh. That probably too much to hope for. He’s definitely a champ and hard not to like him.
Hurts is a class act and I wish him nothing but success on his future team.
Hurts personifies a true team player nothing but respect for him.
I wouldn’t blame him. He has been treated poorly, with no end in sight if he were to stay. I would have started him in the Natty, or at the very least put him in after the second careless interception. All the best to Jalen in whatever the future holds for him. If he had left earlier this past season, Alabama would not have been in the Natty.
Moron..
More moron.
Prior to the 2018 SECCG game I viewed Hurts as nothing more than a RB trying to throw the ball.
But apparently the kid has really worked on his passing game. He looked great as a true QB against UGA. And, kudos for being a man,not whining and working hard. He was there when his team needed him.
I would stay at bama and continue to work hard, he would just s play away from being the starter. Who knows, maybe he improves enough to beat out Tua.
Jalen certainly looked a lot better in the SECCG than Tua did in the natty. I was really disappointed to see him not start the second half.
I admire his composure on and off the field and wish him nothing but the best wherever he decides to go.
Thank you, Jalen for being a great person and demonstrating that loyalty, integrity, and class still means something in this new era of play me or I’m leaving. I wish you success wherever you decide to finish your college career.
I hope he picks a team that doesn’t play against Alabama because I don’t want to have to root against him and would like to see him succeed. He would fit will with a Pac-12 offense or a team with a departing QB like NC State.
I can’t see him picking a team that Bama plays next year. Guy has too much love for Bama to go up against them.
I’d love to see him in Malzahn’s system, but Auburn’s probably the last place he’d go. Best of luck, Hurt’s is certainly the epitome of class in a sport losing more and more of it everyday it seems.
Does anyone NOT like this guy?
They dont like him when they have to play him lol.
Haha! Fair enough
Good luck on your next QB endeavors.
Miami, Oklahoma, anyone know where he would transfer?
You are a good man Jalen Hurts. Best wishes.
Great man of class but even a greater man of faith.
Unlike most Alabama fans, Hurts is difficult to dislike. Much respect and I wish him great success wherever he lands.
I hope he comes to UF. Even though Franks did improve this year I feel that he still holds the offense back. Hurts seems to be a smatter qb that is definitely a better fit in mullen’s offense. Plus he brings character, work ethic and leadership that would help any team
Good luck to him. Classy guy who epitomized the word TEAM. Maryland seems the most logical place doesn’t it. Arkansas would be a good fit but I would bet against him staying in the sec.
I see neither being a place that would advance his career. Florida makes more sense to me. Before the NC game, I thought that there may be a chance he would stay. So much for that. If he goes to Florida, I hope he blows up Georgia.
I don’t blame him a bit for wanting to transfer. Nick Saban doesn’t often make poor coaching decisions, but he sure did with Jalen. If not for Jalen saving Tua’s rear, Georgia would most likely be SEC champions. I sure remember last year’s playoff championship game when Jalen struggled and Saban took him out and brought Tua in. Tua had a horrible first half against Clemson. So many people thinking “ok, time to see if Jalen can do what he did against Georgia since Tua’s out there choking.” However, we all saw the stupid decision that was made to leave him in. The kicker was him finally putting Jalen in the game when it was too late in the game and Alabama was down by four TD’s. That made absolutely zero sense. All of that to say, Jalen deserves better than that. I’m sure he’ll end up somewhere with a coach who will appreciate what he has and use him. God bless, Jalen!
Hopefully it’s not Arkansas… That would be a $hitty end to his career at that disaster of a program….
Lol I see BamaTime still hangs around here getting his panties in a wad anytime anyone says anything about Saban that isn’t praiseworthy. You’ve only been doing that for years now. Surely you saw where I prefaced it with it being rare that Saban makes poor coaching decisions. I know all that matters to you though is pitching a fit (as proven here and your years of doing so on SDS) when someone dares to criticize him. News flash: he’s not perfect, nobody is. That means, yes, he can make mistakes. That was proven in the championship against Clemson. Not only was Clemson the far better team, but Saban made some bad decisions that didn’t help things. Even other Bama fans have been commenting a lot on these two examples, leaving Tua in and going for the fake FG. You’re lying to yourself if you try to say that was smart, especially the way the Clemson D shut Tua down compared to what he usually does.
I feel bad for you. As much as you whine here and take things so personally. Unhappy people only feel happy by trying to make others miserable. Just an FYI, by doing that you’re only upsetting yourself and not the Internet stranger who offended you. Why am I making such a long post about it? Simple, because it’s sad that someone is that unhappy, and here’s to hoping you make some changes for your own sake.
Nobody is going to read your wall of text… Arkansas is a disaster and you’re the one that obviously got your feeling hurt based on your wall of text. I didn’t defend Saban at all. I pointed out it would be a $hitty end if he went to Arkansas. He can do better as he is going to have options at programs in way better shape than Arkansas….
Stop crying like a b!tch.
LOL you crack me up. I remember you saying something about me using bad language on this site once, and look at you lol. Oh, don’t pretend you didn’t read it, because we both know you have nothing better to do. Go enjoy the ass-kicking Bama/Saban received. As you always do, you came back for the last word, but that’s because what other people say here doesn’t bother you lol. Poor child. Try and not get upset today because of stuff Internet strangers say to you, you’ll be much better off, kiddo!
So again you ramble on with nothing… You’re posting on an article about Bama and got upset that I said Arkansas is $hitt and not for hurts…. You then come back about Saban yet I never once mentioned Saban…. Tell me where I was wrong?…. I know you can’t.
Hmm. I read and reread what he said and he never inferred that Hurts would go to Arkansas. Why even mention Arkansas?? Oh and you’re welcome for Arkansas sending you Don Hutson and Paul Bryant. Ha. An Arkansan goes to Alabama and they end up erecting statues of him. Wonder where Bama would be if they never had Bear?? No need to down the Razorbacks, most of the smart Hog fans like to see the good football Bama plays except when it happens to be against our Hogs.
I mentioned Arkansas because it was mentioned above and has been mentioned numerous times before…. Nothing I said was incorrect. Arkansas is horrible. They have been for awhile now. They fired there coach and got ine even worse… I don’t care what Arkansas used to be or who they produced. I’m talking right now…
If you’re unfamiliar with BamaTime, I’ll fill you in. He gets his feelings hurt if you do anything but praise Alabama or Saban and feels like he has to see who your team is and talk bad. He’s been doing this for years. He’s really a sad little man. I feel sorry for him.
So tell me how great Arkansas is? I’ll wait….
Arkansas was a train wreck partially because it’s master mind OC needs a true dual threat QB. They did improve the last part of the season. Morris will get them going and Hurts can be a spark!
Hey Bama boy, this is about Alabama, not Arkansas. You must’ve read the article and realize that. What you’re doing is called deflecting. What that means is, when someone realizes they’ve lost the argument, they try to point the topic in a new direction because they don’t want to admit being wrong. It’s a common tactic used by children (an example being “but he hit me first!”) and by liberals… which are just adults with the mind of a child. So, it’s not at all surprising that you’d do it lol. Oh, I know you’ll wait and are happy to do so, since you spend most of your time here anyway. Sorry to disappoint, but I’m not going to take the bait and let you deflect. It boils down to the fact that I, along with many other college football fans, which includes some Alabama fans, are criticizing Saban because of that idiotic fake FG and the biggest screw up, leaving Tua in even though Clemson was embarrassing him… especially after he wasn’t afraid to pull Jalen during the championship game last season when he wasn’t doing great. Not to mention the fact that if it wasn’t for what Jalen did, Alabama wouldn’t have even won the SEC championship against Georgia. We all know that you’re lying to yourself when you defend those calls Nick made… I’d hope that’s the case anyway, and that you’re not really that stupid. Though, you’ve proven that too so who knows.
Atlanta sports radio says Miami is the likely destination.
God please no. Not Miami Jalen. You’re too classy to play for that fan base.
