Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II is officially off of the board. The Denver Broncos chose Surtain with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The talented cover corner is one of the safest picks in the entire draft, meaning that he may have the highest floor of any defender. Surtain was the SEC’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, and he translates very well to the NFL.

Surtain has professional football bloodlines, too, as his father played 11 seasons in the NFL with Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs.

The talented cornerback was the top overall defensive back in the 2018 recruiting class, as well as the nation’s No. 6 overall ranked player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. The 6-foot-2, 202-pound defender played immediately in Nick Saban’s defense.

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native made 38 consecutive starts for Saban’s defense and was a unanimous first-team All-American. He was targeted just 48 times during his junior season in 2020, and he allowed only 21 completions for a combined 273 yards.

He projects to be a lockdown NFL cornerback with All-Pro potential.
