Paul Finebaum unleashed on Alabama after the Crimson Tide put forth their 3rd straight subpar performance in Saturday’s 24-17 loss at Tennessee.

The ESPN college football analyst knows when Alabama is playing like Alabama, so when the Crimson Tide fall short of expectations on a continual basis, he’s going to know, too.

During Sunday morning’s weekly appearance on “The Matt Barrie Show,” Finebaum served as the mouthpiece for many frustrated Crimson Tide fans whose team has gone from No. 1 in the country 3 weeks ago to being on the outskirts of the College Football Playoff conversation.

“Alabama is an absolute train wreck. There’s no sugar-coating it,” said Finebaum. “I actually heard someone say that Alabama controls its own destiny. For what? The end of the world?”

Finebaum has a hard time seeing Alabama suddenly dusting itself off and beating its next 2 tough opponents in Missouri and LSU.

“Why would you now believe Alabama, after what we’ve seen the past 3 weeks, that Alabama is going to get off the canvas, beat Missouri, which is not great but still formidable, because anybody is formidable for Alabama right now, and then go down to Baton Rouge and beat LSU after what we saw from LSU last night?”

The 7th-ranked Crimson Tide are sure to tumble in the rankings again on Sunday as they get ready to host Missouri in Week 9 before a bye week precedes that showdown in Baton Rouge against LSU on Nov. 9.
