Paul Finebaum listed Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Georgia’s Carson Beck as potential candidates for the 2024 Heisman Trophy.

A regular guest of Greg McElroy and Cole Cubelic on their Birmingham radio show on WJOX, the SEC Network call-in host listed the QBs atop the early possible SEC contenders.

“Those are good places to start within the SEC, and then after that, you just grab whoever’s coming back, which right now is somewhat of a mystery,” Finebaum said.

Over the past season, Milroe went from getting benched in Week 3, to leading the Crimson Tide to an SEC Championship. Beck had the Bulldogs atop the CFP rankings before the Bulldogs’ loss in the title game.

Finebaum mentioned other possible candidates would come from the nation’s top returning QBs. Beck has been reported to want as much as $4 million in NIL money to return to Georgia.

Finebaum said he spoke to a coach recently and the coach told him that he has no idea what the NIL landscape is like, and the coach added that it’s worse than Finebaum realizes.

“I do have to believe the numbers are somewhere out there, I have no idea whether they’re 1.5 (million) or 4 (million),” Finebaum said. “I know 2 years ago, the top wide receiver in the country was looking for 2-3 (million), so I would say even though inflation on Wall Street’s going down, it’s going way up in college football.”
