Paul Finebaum, like many of us around the country, was shocked to see No. 1 Alabama fall to unranked Vanderbilt 40-35 on Saturday evening in Nashville.

Now the blame game begins. Who is to blame for the Crimson Tide’s stunning loss?

During his appearance on SportsCenter on Sunday morning, Finebaum laid the blame squarely at Nick Saban’s feet for comments he made a couple of weeks ago:

“Nick Saban would have never lost a game like that,” Finebaum said during Sunday morning’s appearance. “He did lose his first year to Louisiana-Monroe, but he had a 6-7 team he had inherited. … He had a .500 team that year.

“But you know something? I’m going to blame this game on Nick Saban. … Do you remember what Nick Saban said two weeks ago? He said the only place you play in the SEC that’s not hard is Vanderbilt. That went up on the bulletin board. They played it all week.

“So Nick Saban, this is your fault! You cost your former team the win yesterday against Vanderbilt.”

The comments Finebaum is referring to can be found here. The Commodores played the comments on the video board following the upset.
