Paul Finebaum has been very critical of the way Alabama has been playing the past few weeks, as they have lost 2 of their last 3 games.

It isn’t just how they are playing, but also the way they are handling themselves on the field. He made an appearance on the “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” show on Monday and said what Kalen DeBoer can do to get the fans to be on board.

“It is not so much the playoffs,” Finebaum said. “I think the fanbase can deal with missing the playoffs as long as some of these things we have discussed (penalties and lack of discipline) can get cleaned up. There is a tremendous overreaction going on right now. I was there 2 days last week, and I am hearing they are in a state of shock. They need something they can wrap their arms around. To think that Alabama has to run the table; they had to do that last year.”

Finebaum thinks the next 3 weeks and the off-season play a huge role in the fans mindset on DeBoer.

“I have seen crazier things from Alabama teams than beating a Missouri team that looks eminently beatable and an LSU team that has some flaws,” Finebaum said. “The next 3 weeks are going to be whether Alabama survives the season or not, and whether fans can feel a little bit better about Kalen DeBoer. Also, recruiting matters. Whatever happens during the season, what you do immediately after the season in recruiting will help fans feel a lot better about the future.”

The start of this key 3-week stretch begins on Saturday, as the Crimson Tide host the Missouri Tigers.
