Paul Finebaum made the case for Alabama to make the College Football Playoff if the Crimson Tide can knock off Georgia in Atlanta on Saturday.

On ESPN’s “SportsCenter,” Finebaum explained why different groups of fans and media would view the Tide’s chances differently.

“I believe with a win over Georgia, Alabama should be in because I believe they will be one of the 4 best teams in the country and I know the analytics police will be out in mass this week talking about numbers,” Finebaum said. “But, if you’re a college football observer, you watch Alabama play and it’s not pretty at times, but they’re really exceptional and good in what they have done since that loss on Sept. 19 to Texas is phenomenal.

Finebaum also gave some potential advice to the committee about how to view a team that beats Georgia.

“Also, beating Georgia, the No. 1 team in the country, the best team in the country the last 3 years, should not matter,” he said. “It should matter that Georgia has won 45 of the last 46, but I think it could be in the heads of the committee out in Dallas.”
