The top teams from around the country are starting to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

Most analysts have Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State as their top 3 teams in some order. After that, it gets a bit chaotic.

On SportsCenter on Sunday morning, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum ranked his top 4 teams. He has Notre Dame in that No. 4 spot, but we’ll see how that changes when the Irish play Clemson this coming Saturday.

Here’s how Finebaum ranked the top 4 teams, along with his comments about each:

  • 4. Notre Dame: “Notre Dame is a team to watch out for.”
  • 3. Ohio State: “Justin Fields has been absolutely flawless. Huge game last night in Happy Valley. I don’t see anyone stopping them the rest of the way.”
  • 2. Clemson: “I’m moving Clemson down to No. 2, … but without Trevor Lawrence, I think they lose a little bit.”
  • 1. Alabama: “Alabama has just been unbelievable. Since trailing 2 weeks ago against Georgia — they won that game by 17. They beat Tennessee by 31 and Mississippi State by 41.”

It figures that either Notre Dame or Clemson will fall out by this time next week. Could a team like Georgia climb into the No. 4 spot with a win over Florida? We’ll find out next Sunday!
