Peyton Manning has quite the comparison for former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young: Joe Burrow.

The Manning brothers are set to discuss Young Monday night during a debut episode of “On the Clock” — a pre-draft series from Omaha Productions and NFL Films that highlights some of the top quarterbacks in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Mannings will also focus on Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker, Kentucky’s Will Levis, and Florida’s Will Richardson in future episodes. Monday night’s talk on Young will air at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

During Monday’s episode, Peyton Manning said that in talking with NFL scouts, Burrow’s name has come up as a comp for Young.

“I think (Drew) Brees and Russell Wilson are kind of the easy comparisons because of the size similarities,” Manning said, per AL.com’s Mike Rodak. “But when you talk to real scouts, Burrow is kind of the guy that comes to mind, right? Because of, sort of, the sixth sense in the pocket, the decision-making, processing information quickly.

“I’m not saying Bryce is going to have that same success as Joe right away. But I think the instincts that Joe has that Bryce had, the ability to beat the coverage keeps a lot of plays alive. … Recognition, processing, instincts, you see a little bit of Joe Burrow in Bryce Young.”

Young’s mental makeup has been one of the big selling points for coach Nick Saban throughout the pre-draft process. As Young’s coach has gone to bat for him, he has said the former Heisman winner sees the field like a point guard.

The Mannings seem to agree.

“I think he’s the most game-ready,” Eli Manning said, per Rodak. “He can play early in his NFL career, just by the style of offense that he’s been in and how well he’s played in it.”

Young is believed to be neck-and-neck with Ohio State’s CJ Stroud for the No. 1 overall pick in this month’s draft. One of the big sticking points with Young is his height. He’s 5-foot-10. Neither Manning brother seems concerned, though.

“He’s been playing at this height for a while now,” Peyton Manning said, per Rodak. “You figure out. Drew Brees figured it out as well as anybody, right? You find throwing lanes. It would be different if he was 6-4 all through college and now all of the sudden he’s 5-10. He knows how to do it.”

The first round of the 2023 NFL Draft begins on April 27.
