Photo: Kenyan Drake swaps jerseys with Atlanta Braves shortstop
Usually when we post about jersey swaps on Saturday Down South, it’s former college teammates crossing paths in the pros, but that’s not the case this Sunday. Former Alabama RB Kenyan Drake, now with the Miami Dolphins, and former Vanderbilt shortstop Dansby Swanson swapped professional jerseys before the Atlanta Braves’ afternoon game with the San Diego Padres.

Like Drake, Swanson knows a thing or two about representing the SEC against the ACC on the big stage. In Swanson’s final season at Vanderbilt, the Commodores knocked off the Virginia Cavaliers to win the 2014 College World Series and was named Most Outstanding Player. Swanson was the No. 1 overall draft pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks, but was traded to the Braves and quickly made the major league club in Atlanta.
In addition to being former national champions, Drake and Swanson are also both from the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. Drake grew up in Powder Springs, Ga. while Swanson is from Marietta, Ga.
The Braves won this afternoon’s game 9-2, clinching the opening series at SunTrust Park, which wraps Monday night.
