Quinnen Williams not expected to be full participant for Combine, will reportedly have surgery before NFL Draft
Quinnen Williams is currently hard at work doing everything he can to rise up the NFL Draft boards and potentially become the No. 1 overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. If he does accomplish that goal, he will do so without participating in the bench press this week at the combine.
According to ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper, Williams is the No. 2 overall prospect heading into the NFL Combine.
The former Alabama defensive lineman will be participating in some of the activities at the NFL Combine, which begins this week, but according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Williams won’t be doing the bench press due to a lingering injury. Rapoport also notes Williams will have surgery on his finger following the Combine which should ensure the lineman is full go by the time the draft arrives.
Williams is coming off a season in which he was a unanimous First-Team All-American in only his second season on the field for Alabama. He was also a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Bednarik Award last season after registering 70 tackles, which included 18 for loss and seven sacks.
