Rece Davis doesn’t see the emotion or energy that is typical of Nick Saban and his elite Alabama program. The Tide is coming off a bye week to play Ole Miss on Saturday at Oxford and Davis thinks it’s possible the Rebels keep it within a touchdown.

“They didn’t respond the way one would have anticipated after escaping Texas,” Davis said while going through this year’s Tide compared to those of the past several years. “They didn’t respond the way you would have expected after the loss to Tennessee.”

In both away games, Alabama had 15+ penalties and numerous miscues including a muffed punt against the Volunteers that would ultimately cost them.

Davis added that the 2-loss Tide is still a good team with amazing players like Bryce Young who has been outstanding but he also said the biggest issue of this year’s team is the offensive line.  Alabama especially struggles with blown block rate, a measure of assignments being missed.

“They’re a talented team, and they’re capable of beating anybody,” Davis said. “but they also have some significant flaws and they don’t play with that same edge that they’ve always played with on road games.”
