Report: Alabama leading rusher Damien Harris returning for senior season
With three Alabama players all having declared for the NFL Draft — WR Calvin Ridley, RB Bo Scarbrough and DL Da’Ron Payne, the attention turned to junior RB Damien Harris.
According to AL.com, Harris has made the surprising decision to return to school in 2018. He led all Alabama rushers with 1,000 yards and 11 TDs in 2017. He’s also rushed for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons, scoring 14 TDs during his three-year career.

Harris could have easily gone pro, and no one would have faulted him for it. The shelf life of NFL RBs is very shot; so, this decision is somewhat surprising, but it’s huge news for Alabama and its offense.
Harris, Najee Harris and Josh Jacobs return as one of the best trios in college football. Add in talented and physical Brian Robinson, the Tide’s backfield will be loaded once again.
that’s good for him but I think he would have been served well by making the leap to the NFL. but that’s good news for Bama and hopefully for the kid he can improve his stock. He is truly electric.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see hurts slide over to RB. He has no future in the NFL as QB, but is a quick and strong player that could excel at RB
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hurts slide over to Austin Texas
Big
It will be great to have DH back..
I would have thought that Harris would go pro and Scarborough would return. I don’t think that Harris’s draft stock will get much better (probably early 2nd round and a possibility of late 1st round or mid 2nd round), but Scarborough’s stock could definitely improve after he failed to live up to the immense hype he had going into this season. He was good, but didn’t match the hype.
Damien reminds me of Mark Ingram. He is a great all purpose back with great field vision.
