Joe Pannunzio, who served as Alabama’s director of football operations from 2011 to 2014 before leaving to take a position with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015, could make his return to Tuscaloosa before the 2017 season.

According to Rivals.com, Pannunzio interviewed for the open tight ends/special teams coach position on Nick Saban’s staff.

Pannunzio also has stops at Ole Miss and Auburn on his resume, serving as the Rebels’ tight ends and special teams coach from 1995 to 1998 and holding the same position for the Tigers in 1999.

Pannunzio’s only head coaching experience came from 2000 to 2005, when he held the top position at Murray State.

The former Tide administrative assistant hasn’t had an on-field coaching job since 2010, when he was with the Miami Hurricanes, but he clearly has a lengthy history as a tight ends/special teams coach, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Saban bring him back into the mix at Alabama.
