Former Alabama safety Rashad Johnson will be around the Crimson Tide even more this fall.

After recently being hired to serve as the sideline reporter during radio broadcasts, Johnson is reportedly joining Alabama’s staff in an off-field role, according to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz.

Johnson was a first-team All-SEC selection while playing for the Tide in 2007 and 2008. He went on to play eight seasons in the NFL, seven with the Arizona Cardinals and one with the Tennessee Titans.

Johnson had 15 interceptions during his professional career. He hadn’t played since 2016, but he announced his official retirement back in January.

The 32-year-old is a native of Sulligent, Ala. It is unknown in what capacity he will serve on the Crimson Tide’s staff, but it isn’t expected to affect his new radio duties.
