Report: Former Group of 5 head coach to interview for analyst job at Alabama

Published:
The Alabama Crimson Tide have had to replace a large portion of their coaching staff this offseason, making for a lot of work for coach Nick Saban.
However, he’s assembling another star-studded staff, and he may be adding the next former head coach to his analyst pool.
Per BamaInsider, former Houston head coach Major Applewhite is expected to interview for a spot on Saban’s staff this week:
Sources told BamaInsider on Wednesday that Major Applewhite is interviewing for an analyst job at Alabama this week. Applewhite, who spent the past two years as the head coach at Houston, served as the offensive coordinator at Alabama during Saban’s first year with the Crimson Tide in 2007.
Applewhite’s experience with Saban is a major plus, and he’d be a great addition to the off-field staff for the 2019 season.
Will he be the next former head coach to rebuild his reputation after working with Saban for a year or two, like Lane Kiffin, Mike Locksley, Steve Sarkisian and others? Only time will tell.
