Another SEC coach is rumored to be in the mix for Oregon’s next head coach.

According to a report from FootballScoop.com, Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin has been discussed among those leading the Ducks’ search. Mark Helfrich’s firing Tuesday night created another major coaching vacancy, one for which Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen and Florida’s Jim McElwain are reportedly in the running.

Kiffin has been rumored for several jobs in the last few months, most recently being strongly connected to Ed Orgeron’s promotion at LSU. He would remain an offensive coordinator if that move came to fruition, but now he’s involved in another head coaching search.

Kiffin was expected to be a candidate for the opening at Fresno State, his alma mater, before it was taken by his old mentor Jeff Tedford.

The Crimson Tide’s offense has evolved into a potent spread attack under Kiffin, who has been a head coach for three other teams. Kiffin has long been rumored to be leaving Tuscaloosa after this season, and Oregon is just the next school reportedly in line for his services.
