In recent years, Alabama and coach Nick Saban have invited back former players like John Parker Wilson, Blake Sims and a handful of others to practice against the Crimson Tide.

However, that won’t be happening in the future, as the NCAA announced on Wednesday it was closing that loophole in the rulebook.

According to FootballScoop.com, using former players in practices has been banned at both the FBS and FCS levels:

Both divisions have banned former athletes from participating in practices at their alma maters, as had become a popular trend at a certain Tuscaloosa-based FBS school in recent years.

Other teams followed Alabama’s lead with this trend, inviting their former stars back to campus.

Now, though, that won’t be happening anymore. But that likely won’t stop Saban from finding new loopholes to utilize to his advantage.
