Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa’s season is over after he suffered a major hip injury a couple of weeks ago and had surgery this week.

Now, it will be interesting to see what he decides to do for his future. If he enters the 2020 NFL Draft, he’ll likely remain a first-round pick, even with his injury.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, team executives still think Tagovailoa would be taken in the middle of the first round if he declares:

If he does (enter the draft), according to five high-ranking executives, Tagovailoa is still expected to be taken in the first round, with all believing he’ll end up in the first half of the round. He may not be the top 3 pick he was slated to be before the injury, but the fall from the ailment is not expected to be catastrophic — pending the results of his medical evaluations.

It will be interesting to see if he does declare, and if he does, which team takes him. For example, a team like the Los Angeles Chargers could draft him and let him sit behind veteran Philip Rivers in 2020.

We’ll see what happens with the Alabama quarterback in the coming months.
