Ryan Day praises Alabama RB Najee Harris: 'Probably the most versatile guy we'll see all year'
Alabama’s offense is an elite unit, led by 3 of the top-5 vote-getters in the 2020 Heisman Trophy race. WR DeVonta Smith won the award, QB Mac Jones finished third and RB Najee Harris finished fifth.
Ahead of Monday night’s College Football Playoff title game against Ohio State, Harris is drawing his fair share of praise.
On Sunday morning, Ohio State coach Ryan Day was asked about Harris and he had glowing praise for the versatile Alabama back (via ASAPSports.com):
“Yeah, I think Najee Harris is playing at a high level this season,” Day said. “I think that a big part of it is the offensive line, the tight ends, how well they block. But he’s running really hard. When you get him to the second level he can make guys miss in a variety of ways. I think he runs hard. He falls forward a lot.
“He’s also done a good job in the pass game, in protection. He’s caught balls as a receiver. He’s caught balls coming out of the backfield, his check-downs. So he’s a complete back. Very versatile.
“Again, probably the most versatile guy we’ll see all year.”
Harris led the nation with 24 rushing touchdowns this season, besting second-place Breece Hall by 3 touchdowns. How many more will he add on Monday night?
