SEC championship game set: Alabama vs. Missouri
The SEC championship game is set.
Mississippi State lost the Egg Bowl at Ole Miss on Saturday, clinching the SEC West title for the Crimson Tide before the Iron Bowl kickoff. Alabama will face Missouri at 4 p.m. ET Saturday in Atlanta for the SEC championship.
The Tigers (10-2, 7-1) won back-to-back SEC East titles despite a 34-0 home loss to Georgia, as the Bulldogs dropped two games and Mizzou came back to beat Arkansas on Friday.
“We want Bama!” Missouri fans chanted after the game. Well, Tigers fans, you got what you want.
Even if Auburn wins tonight, the Crimson Tide will play in its fourth SEC championship game under coach Nick Saban. Alabama beat Georgia, 32-28, in a thriller in 2012.
Missouri lost to Auburn, 59-42, in last year’s SEC championship.
Assuming Alabama wins the Iron Bowl, the Crimson Tide still may need to beat Missouri next weekend to make the College Football Playoff.
