Through the first eight weeks of the season, arguably the biggest question in college football surrounds Alabama’s offense. Is there a team that can slow down the Crimson Tide? Reese’s Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy has a couple ideas.

Nagy says you have to go outside the SEC to find a defense with the talent to potentially “slow down” (not necessarily contain) Alabama.

“Really Notre Dame and Michigan are the only two defenses are the only ones that rival Alabama,” Nagy told Mark Heim of AL.com and WNSP-FM 105.5 . “Usually, you have to go to the SEC for that brand of football. There are two teams, if they got into the playoff, I think Notre Dame and Michigan are the only two teams defensively that would have a chance of slowing Alabama down.”

Even so, the Fighting Irish and Wolverines would still have to put up some points to hang with Tua Tagovailoa and company.

“I’m not saying they would hold (Alabama) under 30, but I think if only two defenses would have a chance it would be those two units.”

“I don’t think anyone can score with them,” Nagy said.

Alabama currently leads the nation in scoring offense, averaging 54.1 points per game.
