Shaun Dion Hamilton: Alabama defense to have ‘come-to-Jesus’ meeting on Monday

Even though the Alabama Crimson Tide cruised to an easy 41-23 win over Colorado State on Saturday night and will almost certainly maintain their No. 1 ranking in the AP Poll, this week of practice isn’t going to be fun for the defense.
After giving up nearly 400 yards of total offense and 23 points to the Rams, Alabama defenders are not happy with their performance.
In fact, senior LB Shaun Dion Hamilton said after Saturday’s win that the defense is going to have a ‘come-to-Jesus’ meeting on Monday (via AL.com):
“We’ve got a lot of work to do,” Hamilton said. “We’ve got to get back to the drawing board because that was just pathetic. We were just on the field entirely too long. We’ve got to get back and work hard because we’re fixing to get into SEC play. We’re going to have a come-to-Jesus meeting on Monday.”
The Crimson Tide take on the undefeated Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville next weekend, and Hamilton said the defense needs to have a much better performance if Alabama is going to hand the Commodores their first loss of the season:
“It’s definitely frustrating,” Hamilton said. “The defense is the weak link right now. … Disappointing, but just got to come back Monday ready to work.”
Next weekend’s game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. Central time and can be seen on CBS.
