Should a less than 100 percent Tua Tagovailoa even play against LSU? Tim Tebow weighs in

There are still seven days for Tua Tagovailoa to recover from his high ankle sprain and minor surgery for the LSU game, but even though the Game of the Year is still a week away, everyone is already talking about it — have been since September.

It’s unknown right now whether Tagovailoa will play against LSU. It’s unknown how healthy his injured ankle will be. There’s probably a decent chance he won’t be 100 percent healthy.

Knowing he has a bright NFL future, should he even play in that scenario? Tim Tebow joined SportsCenter Saturday morning to discuss it.

“Well, I think it’s totally up to the individual and this is truly Tua’s decision,” Tebow said. “It’s not his parents, Nick Saban or doctors; it is Tua’s decision. If Tua says, ‘I want to be patient on this thing and get 100 percent healthy before I play again.’ I think he will be the No. 1 pick, and I think he’s the best quarterback in college football.

“Or he could look back and say, ‘this might be the biggest game I ever get a chance to play in, in my home stadium and my home turf where I could go down as one of the best quarterbacks ever.’ If it’s me, there’s no way I could miss this game. This might be his sweetest of all-time, No. 1 or No. 2. Guess what? If it’s me, I’m playing.”

It’s a very interesting thought ahead of Alabama-LSU. In that scenario, it would come down to a business decision for the Alabama quarterback. Tebow was never projected as the No. 1 pick, and even he would have to take that into consideration.

What do you think he’d choose to do?
