Stanford's David Shaw does masterful job helping promote Nick Saban's Alabama program during Pac-12 Media Days
If David Shaw was attempting to help Nick Saban recruit elite prospects to Alabama, not that the Crimson Tide need any help in that category, he did a masterful job during his appearance at Pac-12 Media Days.
It’s no surprise that Bryce Young’s alledged “nearly seven-figure” NIL deals were brought up during a media day event. The surprising part was how Shaw responded.
The Stanford coach essentially said Alabama has greater value than the market value.
Here was his quote:
Stanford coach David Shaw on Alabama quarterback Bryce Young making nearly a million dollars in NIL according to Nick Saban: "That's not market value. That's Alabama value."

For a smart guy, Shaw missed the mark on this one.
That was the entire point of Saban throwing out that figure in the first place, to inform prospects that players that come to Alabama stand to gain a ton with the new legal NIL deals.
That’s something many were eager to point out to Shaw after seeing his tweet:
That was the point Saban was making when he said it. https://t.co/N7OuzfaoSV

This works quite well as a recruiting pitch for Alabama https://t.co/xTiBLRRAU1
