Stephen A. Smith is clearly still working his way into form early in the college football season. The ESPN personality made a couple of errors during a recent episode of First Take regarding Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe.

When discussing Alabama’s loss to Texas in Week 2, Smith gets Milroe’s last name wrong while criticizing the sophomore. Smith then punctuates his hot take by inaccurately reciting Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers’ stat line as belonging to Milroe.

“It’s going to be a tough season for Alabama. This kid Milroy, I wish him nothing but the best. I hope that he ultimately gets it turned around. He’s not what we’re accustomed to seeing from the quarterback position at Alabama…” Smith said. “This dude is not ready and you saw it. He threw for 349 yards, 3 touchdowns, no interceptions but bottomline is Milroy is not that guy.”

Milroy is not that guy because his last name is Milroe and he actually threw for 255 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.

Milroe and No. 10 Alabama will aim to bounce back when they travel to take on South Florida in Week 3.
