Stephen A. Smith’s last pick against Florida didn’t go as well as he planned.

This time around, he believes his Ole Miss pick will go better.

Smith stated on ESPN’s “First Take” with Tim Tebow that “It’s not going to be close this time,” as he discussed the Ole Miss-Alabama matchup on Saturday.

First, Smith did give Ole Miss some credit for turning its program around.

“First things first, it’s a new day at Ole Miss because Lane Kiffin is there,” said Smith. “I believe in that man, I think he’s a helluva coach and obviously last year, Tim Tebow got me again because he told me that that Ole Miss game against Alabama was going to be tough, I didn’t forget. They dropped 48 on Alabama. But Alabama dropped 63, so let’s just be clear about that.”

Smith also believes that because of how closely Florida played Alabama, that this game will not be close this time around.

“Having said that, we talking about Alabama, and let me tell you something, Tim,” said Smith.  “Them damn Florida Gators surprised me, OK. I think they surprised Alabama. Alabama ain’t going to find themselves in that situation again, they’re going to get it together, they destroyed Southern Mississippi, a different level, I understand that. Ole Miss is coming in undefeated, 3-0, Matt Corral can play now. He’s something special. He hasn’t thrown an interception this season after throwing 14 interceptions last season.”

Lastly, Smith thinks the fact that they’ll be playing at Bryant-Denny Stadium will be a huge factor.

“But it don’t matter because they’re coming to the Tide, baby,” said Smith. “They’re going on the road, they’re coming to the home turf of Alabama. The fact that Florida almost beat them a couple of weeks ago, I think that Nick Saban has appropriately made life a living hell for them over the last couple of weeks, and I think Ole Miss will feel the wrath of the Tide, baby.”
