Steve Sarkisian will have a reunion with Bryce Young, a quarterback he helped recruit to Alabama, on Saturday when the Crimson Tide meet Texas.
At his Monday press conference, Sarkisian spoke about the Alabama QB.
“I love Bryce. Awesome kid, great person,” he said, per Longhorn Network. “I’ve had a special relationship with him – I’ve known him since 6th grade. Proud of him and all he’s accomplished at Alabama. Heck of a player.”
At SEC Media Days, Young also spoke about their relationship, and how the former Alabama offensive coordinator played a role in him playing in Tuscaloosa.
“Coach Sark, he was really instrumental in me going to Alabama,” Young said.. “He’s who recruited me there. A big reason why I started looking at Alabama. I have nothing but love for Coach Sark. The year [he] was there … I was able to go and learn a lot underneath him.
“Right now, it’s just about we’re about to start camp so it’s just competing with ourselves day in and day out and we take everything week by week when the season starts. But with that being said, I definitely have a lot of love for Sark. I’m super excited.”
Young and Sarkisian will be 2 key figures in the game, which has already gotten national attention, and will be the site of ESPN’s “College GameDay” this week.
