Former Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian has made his first public comments since the news of his departure from the Crimson Tide to become the Atlanta Falcons new play-caller.

Sarkisian appears to be pushing back against the reports of “disagreements” between he and coach Nick Saban with the sentence “Hard to leave rel’t & opportunity with Coach Saban & Alabama.”

The former USC head coach had a very brief tenure as Alabama’s offensive coordinator. Sarkisian joined Alabama as an offensive analyst in September, and was promoted to offensive coordinator for the national championship game in a surprise move by Saban following the Crimson Tide’s Peach Bowl victory over Washington.

Sarkisian’s new boss, Dan Quinn, is a member of the Nick Saban coaching tree, having worked on the Miami Dolphins staff 2005-2006 as the defensive line coach.
