'Tank for Tua' campaign marches on: New NFL team mentioned as destination for QB after Dolphins win
The Miami Dolphins win on Sunday over the New York Jets has changed a popular conversation throughout the NFL season about the spring NFL Draft. Who will draft Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa? The conversation has even taken on the nickname, “Tank for Tua.”
Some Dolphins fans even changed their Twitter handles to things like “we tanking.”
The story had even developed a “Tank for Tua Bowl” matchup between the previously winless Dolphins and the winless Cincinnati Bengals, who are set to play Dec. 22, who are now pegged as a possible destination. Though some prefer the Bengals pick Ohio State DL Chase Young, or other positions like the offensive line because they believe quarterback is not the main problem.
Others mentioned Tagovailoa’s ankle injury history and possible inability to escape a bad offensive line.
There’s plenty of time for this to be sorted out. After all, the Bengals face the now 1-7 New York Jets on Dec. 1, the team that allowed this conversation to move forward.
Here’s a sampling of fan reaction to the news:

Bengals about to have the number 1 pick in the draft. Get Chase Young. If not that, other smart move would be to trade down to whatever team wants Tua/Burrow and get a bunch of picks. Our o-line is complete garbage. Drafting a QB would be a total waste of our pick this year.

what’s going to be funny is when Tua gets drafted by the Bengals, gets sacked constantly b/c they have a crap offensive line, and he doesn’t succeed.
Dolphins have enough excellent picks to turn both their offensive AND defensive lines into Top 10 groups in the next 3 years.

With this o-Line Bengals need a QB who can move in the pocket. Tua has bad ankles.
