It’s one thing for media outlets, analysts or even current/former coaches to evaluate and rank players but a new level of credibility is gained when a teammate rates a player.

During his recent appearance on Pro Football Talk at the 2020 NFL Combine, former Alabama linebacker Terrell Lewis gave credit to former Georgia offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn for being the best player he had faced during his college career. When asked to name the best player he has played with at Alabama, Lewis was at first hesitant to give an answer.

After giving it a moment’s notice, Lewis shared his opinion that of all the NFL players and future NFL players to suit up in Tuscaloosa during his time with Alabama, the player that stood out the most was receiver, Jaylen Waddle.

“I’ll say – there’s so many to choose from, but right now, the person that always has an impression on me is probably the young cat, Jaylen Waddle,” Lewis answered. “Yeah, he a dog.”

What makes Waddle stand out among all the elite players Lewis has played with at Tuscaloosa?

“He’s got that dog mentality as a receiver and he’s one of those guys where if I get the ball, you never know, I might score,” Lewis offered up on Waddle. “He’s a game-changer.”

That’s incredibly high praise from Lewis, especially after only seeing Waddle play for two years in college. However, based on Lewis’ comments, there’s a good chance Waddle is in the same position as his former Alabama teammates this time next year and being interviewed about the best players he’s seen in college during his appearance at the 2021 NFL Combine.
