The Texas football program has a huge opportunity to return to national relevance Saturday, as it will play host to top-ranked Alabama.

The Longhorns opened their 2022 season with a 52-10 win over Louisiana-Monroe this past Saturday, but the Crimson Tide will present a huge step up in competition.

One Texas player who believes his team is ready for the challenge is senior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who on Monday in advance of the game told reporters that a victory “wouldn’t shock” anyone is his side’s locker room.

The 6-4, 220-pounder from Arp, Texas, had 8 tackles, including 2 for losses, in Texas’ season-opening win. He recorded 54 tackles and a sack in 9 games last season.

While Overshown wouldn’t be shocked if the Longhorns win, oddsmakers would be. Texas is currently a near 3-touchdown underdog, even though the game will be played in Austin.
