Tom Luginbill discussed one of the toughest decisions that the College Football Playoff committee could potentially face.

If Alabama and Texas both win out, there will likely be a complicated choice to make. Obviously Texas won the head-t0-head between the two teams, but it would be hard to leave a 1-loss Alabama team with a win over Georgia out of the Playoff.

In terms of just sheer talent, Luginbill believes Texas looks like a Playoff team.

“Are they a Playoff team in terms of their personnel? The answer is unequivocally yes,” he said on The Next Round Monday morning. “They’ve got some serious dudes on that football team.”

Luginbill believes that if it comes down to it, the committee will make the decision that will get the least amount of backlash, which he believes is Texas.

“As I’ve said before, I think the committee’s human nature is to always default to the decision that will receive the least amount of criticism,” Luginbill said. “So if that head-to-head ends up becoming the determinant factor, then I think that the committee would default to it vs. Alabama. Do I think that Alabama deserves to be in the College Football Playoff if they win out? I absolutely do.”

The Playoff picture could get a shake up on Tuesday with the new rankings, but it ultimately reveal itself following all the conference championships. For now, Texas and Alabama still have to close their seasons out with wins.
