Check under the couches because Tua Tagovailoa has been dropping dimes at Miami Dolphins camp this weekend.

The recipient of these perfect deep passes from Tagovailoa? No one other than his former Alabama teammate Jaylen Waddle.

One specific highlight came when Tagovailoa connected with Waddle on a deep shot over 2 defenders during practice Saturday. But that was only the beginning.

The third-year quarterback continued his connection with Waddle during Sunday’s practice.

This is a pivotal year for Tagovailoa, who was selected fifth overall by the Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft. Tagovailoa helped Alabama win the 2017 CFP national championship and was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year in 2018. He has thrown for 4,467 yards and 27 touchdowns with the Dolphins.

Waddle was the sixth overall pick by the Dolphins in the 2021 NFL Draft. He had 104 yards with 1,015 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie.

Both players will be closely watched to see if they can get the Dolphins’ offense going, and set Tagovailoa in particular on a trajectory to be a bona fide franchise quarterback. Plays like these will help.
